An Unexpected Development

No, this isn't about my “Cats” production; I've gotten very interested lately in sailing my short/wide board lately, and not so interested in my Kona board. I'm not sure why this is, but here's my theory.

When I got hooked in last week, then got my toes into the straps, something interesting happened. I felt IT, that feeling. It was almost like flying. It was that experience of having the board moving underneath you without putting in a huge amount of effort. Wow.

I realized at the end of last year, after a comment from Ned, a man who can't stop teaching and sharing information, that I'd been hunched over too far. I hadn't been doing the basic thing of just leaning backwards. No wonder my arms were getting such a workout. No wonder I'd been getting catapulted a lot.

A great shot of me with an obviously lousy stance. Move back, Ian! Look, even my outhaul line is dangling! I'd love to say this was a long time ago, but it was last year.

BTW, I finally got a name for my Exocet Cruiser: Electra. I think it fits.
